Enjoying crispy, golden fish doesn’t have to mean deep frying in oil. With an air fryer, you can achieve a crunchy, flavorful coating while keeping the dish healthy and low in fat. This crispy and healthy air-fried fish recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a weekend treat. It’s easy to prepare, packed with flavor, and pairs beautifully with fresh vegetables or a light salad.
Ingredients
- 1 pound white fish fillets (like cod, tilapia, or haddock)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour for a healthier option)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray or a light drizzle of olive oil
- Lemon wedges, for serving
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Preparation Steps
Step 1: Preheat the Air Fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Breading Station
Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour mixed with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; one with beaten eggs; and one with panko breadcrumbs.
Step 3: Coat the Fish
Dredge each fish fillet in the flour mixture, dip into the beaten eggs, and then coat evenly with panko breadcrumbs.
Step 4: Prepare for Air Frying
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with a small amount of olive oil. Place the coated fish fillets in a single layer in the basket, making sure they don’t overlap.
Step 5: Air Fry the Fish
Cook the fish at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is golden brown, crispy, and flakes easily with a fork.
Step 6: Serve
Remove the fish from the air fryer and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side. Pair with a side of roasted vegetables, a salad, or rice for a complete, healthy meal.
🐟 This crispy and healthy air-fried fish is flavorful, light, and quick to prepare. It’s an excellent alternative to traditional fried fish, giving you the crunch you love without the extra oil.
