With a simple preparation and minimal ingredients, you can make a homemade seafood favorite that’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Ingredients
- 2 cans (14.75 oz each) salmon, drained and flaked
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko for extra crunch)
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- ¼ cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 2–3 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil for frying
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Preparation Steps
Step 1: Prepare the Salmon Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, mayonnaise, mustard (if using), salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Step 2: Form the Patties
Shape the mixture into small, even patties, about 2–3 inches in diameter. Make sure they are compact to prevent breaking during cooking.
Step 3: Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Ensure the pan is hot enough to crisp the patties but not too hot to burn them.
Step 4: Cook the Patties
Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip to avoid breaking them.
Step 5: Serve
Remove the patties from the skillet and drain on a paper towel if needed. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and your choice of side dishes, such as a fresh salad, roasted vegetables, or a dipping sauce like tartar or aioli.
🐟 These easy salmon patties are quick to make, flavorful, and perfect for a healthy, satisfying meal. They’re a great way to enjoy seafood without spending hours in the kitchen.
